At Oakwood Animal Hospital we believe preventative care is the best kind of medicine. Since dogs and cats age much more rapidly than humans do (current approximation is about 5 to 7 years quicker) an annual physical exam is one to the single most important things you can do to insure the health and longevity of your pet . This physical exam can uncover things at an early stage before they become a problem. Ignorance is not bliss! Some older animals or animals with long-term illnesses may require exams more than once yearly. Heart disease, diabetes, obesity, kidney diseases and cancer are some of the many problems that may necessitate more frequent veterinary visits.

Regular vaccinations of your pets can help prevent many deadly diseases such as Distemper, Parvo, Rabies, Panoleukipenia (feline distemper) and Feline Leukemia. All vaccines are not alike. There are many available to the public that are less pure and offer a lower level of protection, while increasing the risk of vaccine reactions. Newer vaccines have been made available to veterinarians that are more potent and actually reduce the risk of vaccine reactions making it all the more safe for your pet.

We offer many wellness packages than can help keep your pet healthy and happy at a discounted cost to you. These include packages for seniors (7+), juniors (2-7) and even puppies and kittens.

 VIP Senior Wellness Package

This wellness package includes not only the physical examination and all the annual vaccines needed, but also a semi-annual check-up, a radiographic survey of the body, glaucoma testing, arrythmia screening, blood pressure evaluation and a complete blood panel. This diagnostic test will check thyroid function, complete blood count, blood chemistries and also includes a urinalysis. As a VIP Senior, your pet will also get free drop off for services, free nail trims for a year (if unassisted) and 10% off all over-the-counter products including flea and heartworm medications.

VIP Junior Wellness Package

The VIP Junior package consists all of your pets annual vaccinations and physical exam as well as a semi-annual examination (including their six-month Bordetella booster). It also includes a complete blood panel and urinylasis. Your VIP junior will also get free drop off for services, free nail trims for a year (if unassisted) and 10% off all over-the counter products, including your pet's flea and heartworm medications.
